Michael McCune graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a BA of Architecture and Professional MA of Architecture. While attending La Tech, he was repeatedly recognized for his design and graphic excellence. As a Graduate Assistant, he served as a Shop Technician and Operations Manager for the school’s vast repertoire of 3d rapid prototyping printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, CNC Plasma Cutters, and CNC Mills along with the large wood/metal shops. Throughout his education and professional career, Michael has served as a technology aid in software and fabrication methods. Michael also attended DLAB at the Architectural Association in 2008 where he focused on Algorithmic Design through Rhino Script.

Michael is currently working at Trahan Architects where he serves as a designer, director of rapid prototyping, and design technology director. Michael, along with other talented individuals, formed a group within the TA office, to support project teams in using new and appropriate technologies throughout all phases of the project. The group also devotes their own time in order to build up the entire office. By introducing and advancing the concepts, techniques, and technologies in fields of interest to the group and office as a whole, the technologies become less “scary” and misused. It also allows the Project Managers to engage and aid in the digital exploration process, which is led by young talented individuals the majority of the time.

Michael’s primary interest lie in the blurring of Architecture, Mathematics, and Computer Science through the use of “architecturally friendly” software. He plans on pursuing degrees in the fields of Design Computation in Architecture, Architectural Geometry, and Computer Science.
